Leya Li is a Los Angeles–based film and media composer, music producer, and conductor. Born into a musical family, she began studying piano and flute at an early age. She studied conducting at the Central Conservatory of Music, with a minor in Artistic Tonmeister of Recording, before earning a master’s degree in film and media composition from the Eastman School of Music’s Beal Institute for Contemporary Media and Film Composition.
Her work spans film, animation, documentaries, chamber music, and live performance, combining orchestral writing with electronic textures and contemporary production techniques. Her experience includes film rescoring concerts, original scores for screen projects, and serving as music director and conductor for student orchestras in China.
Drawing on her background in composition, conducting, and audio production, she approaches music with an emphasis on structure, instrumental color, and storytelling. She continues to develop her creative practice through collaborations within Los Angeles’s music and filmmaking communities.
